USS Hollister Guestbook

Comments:
I served aboard the USS Hollister DD788 from 10-1-58, 9-70-59. I most enjoyed while underway and on watch as the Lee Helmsman and Helmsman. It was a pleasure to serve with a great bunch of shipmates.

I was onboard USS Hollister from September 1961 through February 1964 as RM3/2. It was a great beginning for my Naval Career. I then transferred to the Submarine Force where I retired as a Commander in 1994.

Comments:
My Dad served on the Hollister during the first tour to Korea, during the Korean War. He passed away in 2009. Does anyone know if the Hollister was actually in Korean waters, as my Dad talked often about bombarding the shores. I recently learned he didn't receive a Korean War Service medal, and I was shocked! He got a China Service Award and a National Defense Medal. I know he fought in the Korean War, and this bothers me. SO if anyone knows more I appreciate any information.

Thanks,

Mary Jefferson Rabon
