ship photoDear Shipmate,

On behalf of the other U.S.S. Hollister shipmates welcome aboard.  The 2008 reunion will be held in Branson MO, September 16-20, 2008.

Thanks for making contact with the Hollister reunion group.  With some luck the commissioning captain and his wife will be at the reunion (he is 95 and his wife is 90+).   Regardless of time era or rate/rank while on the ship all can relate to the experiences shared.
The annual reunions provide a location for meeting other shipmates that live throughout the U.S. It never ceases to amaze me how much your fellow shipmates appreciate finding new Hollister folks to exchange sea stories.  The stories about times on leave seem to be the most popular.

Twenty years ago, the late John Mills organized and hosted the first Hollister reunion, in Monterey California.  The shipmates attending that reunion decided to hold an annual reunion with the location being set by the volunteer host.  Reunions have been held throughout the United States.  Spouse or friend is encouraged to join in this time of telling sea stories, touring local attractions and meeting friends that share a common experience.  Over the years friendships have developed making it a time to enjoy the friendship while being in the same location for a few days.

An annual roster is published in September.  It has names of the shipmates on our current mailing list.  We are delighted to add names of all the other shipmates who served on the Hollister.

The Hollister Reunion group established $15.00 annual dues to cover the cost of printing and mailing newsletters sent about four times a year and for copy of the roster of participants.
