Found out about the USS Hollister recently. Named after three brothers (including William :) ). Almost certainly related in some way, there just aren't that many of us, but to be honest, I am unaware of the connection. :!cry:

I was an ensign in the engineering division, 19'71-'72. I remember my first Westpac tour when we hit a typhoon on the way to Yokosuka and went dead stick in the water. Anyone else remember that time? Later was transferred to USS Midway as main engines officer.

I served on the Hollister during the Korean War. 1951-1953. We were in the Korean waters receiving fire on the 38th parallel. I was not chosen, however I was one of the crew to volunteer for the night raid in July 1952. I was a fireman serving with my brother Delbert Hill.
