First ship after 9.1 earthquake in Kodiak, Alaska ('63-'64) 1964 to 1/2 of 1966 then went to the U.S.S. St. Paul for my last six months. Met the Hollister in Japan and sailed the next day back to Long Beach, California. Got 4 mental disorders from 3 trips off the coast of Vietnam, 9.1 earthquake and 275ft. tidal wave.

The Hollister was my first duty station right after "A" School. I was on board from 1969 to 1972. Came on as a BTFN and made BT2 before leaving. I was in the Aft Fireroom and was Oil King for about my last year aboard. Great ship and a great bunch of guys!

Ahoy Shipmates, MM3 Roberts here from "M" div 1977 to Decom. I have started a Group Facebook page for the Hollister that's open to all of you and would like for you to contribute with pictures and stories or if you wish just to browse through and enjoy. I know that all of you have something to contribute and I would love to have it on the site. It's free and a great place to meet up with old friends. I treasure my time onboard and still talk with many friends that I made while there.
Fair Winds & Calm Seas to you all. :!cool:
