I served on the Hollister from may 1972 until august 17th 1972 until I had to leave on emergency leave due to the death of my father. I was part of the raid that took place on august 9 1972 and also part of the shrike missile firing. I have been fighting the VA for my agent orange claim and they are denying that I was ever on the Hollister or in or near brown water. Just trying to connect with other vets that served and were present that day. Thank you Gary bell

I did three tours of Nam. Last tour was on the Hollister from March 1972 to August 1972. My dad passed away in Kansas on August 17th 1972. They sent me back to the funeral and kept me stateside until end of my tour. Anybody who served during that time contact me!

My grandfather Ralph Castaneda JR sailed on USS Hollister from 1951-1952. He was a 2nd ammunition loader on a 3 or 5 inch gun in the back of the boat. He talked about the blockade in the bay, where a ship fired a shell every 5 minutes for several days in a row with no return fire. God bless everyone who served on USS Hollister.
